Honestly, your 2 almost Fancy Serial numbers would drive me crazy!
I would just spend both right away and forget about them.
    Again IMHO

Maybe there should be a permanent thread about notes that are almost fancy.

Almost a radar, almost a repeater, almost a low serial number .....in other words, almost valuable. If you like 'em, keep 'em

if I hadn't got it the same day as the 5 I probably would left it out. it's more than likely that is as close as I will ever come to a super repeater.

There is a seller on ebay that has a ton of almost fancy serial numbers. The prices he asks for them are ridiculous! I check his stuff out and get a good laugh.

I have done that before and the screwed thing is....these people ACTUALLY have people buy them!! like the state quarters that say "IN GOD WE RUST" sellers are getting as much as $30. look under sold listings.

here is my 2013 $1 binary flipper that is ALMOST a repeater
    and
    2009 $20 binary flipper that is ALMOST a repeater if the 3rd 6 was a 1
    both circulation finds.
I think I have about 200+ $1's that are ALMOST something.

I posted this before, but it still amazes me. It is a repeater and a radar. By the way, the US Mint is considering eliminating star notes, they claim they are contacted to frequently by people asking what the star is.

Where did you see/read this ?

Bank Note Reporter the November 2016 issue. The story talks about the new machinery that prints 50 notes per sheet instead of 32, but if you go into the magazine to finish the story (on page 14) they end the article wit the information on eliminating star notes.

Just read the article and saw they mention the possibility of eliminating star notes in the future....but didn't see any mention about frequently being contacted by people asking what star notes were.

Edited to add; The article mentions the reason is; there may be no practical reason for star notes if deliveries are just based on counts. Meaning maybe in the future, not all 100 packs of notes will have consecutive serial numbers.

Does this mean the 500 plus Star notes I have will be worth holding on to? Which I do anyways because I like them. :)

I would think they would increase in value if they stopped producing them. I save all mine too, so one can hope :)

Hypothetically speaking, or not, what if I had a sheet of 16 1988A $1 bills with multiple repeaters and or fancies and or partials?

Yes I did find the note in circulation.

I read about the elimination of star notes in another publication also, and that article mentioned the BEP being contacted by people questioning the star notes. I will go through them and post which one said they would PROBABLY be eliminated. Jeez, doesn't anybody on this forum take a person's word for what they post. I just got back from a short vacation and now I remember why I checked out other coin and currency forums, they tend to more friendly and more accepting of people that haven't been on the forum for a hundred years.

The fact that I said that the BEP was tiring of people contacting them about what a star means was just an offhand comment and really doesn't have an effect on the hobby, what was key was the possible elimination of the star on replacement notes.

I have a half sheet (16) Bicentennial $2 star notes hanging on my wall. You bet I'm going to save them. I think it's cool and if the BEP eliminates star notes they could go up in value as an added plus.

You didn't finish reading the article. Go to the same Bank Note Reporter- November 2016 issue- and go to page 16. At the top left of the page the article talks about how the Federal Reserve is tired about receiving inquiries about the star.
