I have looked for the 1984 DDO for almost 15 years through circulation and no luck so far. From everything I have seen from your photo's Justin this is not one. I hope you do find one someday. Good luck.

Are you suggesting the OP coin to be WDDO-008? If so, may I ask what you've based your conclusion on?

The area in which the OP thinks he sees another ear is nowhere remotely close to the supposed doubling present on the aforementioned accepted variety. Even pushing this aside and simply comparing it to his coin, I'm seeing no evidence suggesting it is or even could be at this point.

Just saying there is more than just the big boy. could you really tell anything from those pictures. are you suggesting that I should not encourage someone to dig deeper and show them there is more information.

    That sounds familiar...

Yes, and enough to confidently say that the OP is seeing things. There is no doubled ear in the location he highlighted earlier in this thread, and is something that needs to be made very clear for his benefit.

    Oy... here we go again.

First, you told him to go find "Sheila's post", which he may or may not have understood, so it's not like you actually "showed" him anything. It's not like you provided him with an attribution number or link in order for him to further research.

As for "encouraging someone to dig deeper", that's great if you would say the same for each and every cent of this date anyone happens to have in their possession. Otherwise, do you not see how saying "hope you still have your coin" could be giving false hope even though there is nothing that even remotely suggests the coin could be of of the suggested variety? Education is one thing; wild goose chases are something else entirely.

Ah, so THAT's what the mystical doubled ear looks like. Thanks for the image.
