It is that time of year to get your reservations in for the 2017 F.U.N. Convention. Who is going and where do you plan to stay? It's always good to have a list of our site's attendees and the dates of their stay. I'll be there for the entire show, Wednesday through Sunday. I'm torn between the Marriott and the Hilton. The Hilton is walking distance, .3 of a mile to the convention facility. It has a pool but is on the inter-coastal waterway. The Marriott is oceanfront, right on the beach, and also has a pool. (Just a little over one mile to the convention hall but has public transportation outside their front door). I need to cancel one reservation by the end of this month. Share your thoughts and if you plan to attend.
Thanks to Larry @ldhair I'll be attending the NGC Luncheon as his guest on Saturday. I live across the state in Ft. Myers, and it's less than 3 hours driving time so I'm only planning to stay that day. I'll be taking some things with me to sell if I get the right price, so I might even make the short drive north on I-95 to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood. Chris
I wouldn't take too long to make reservations. This is the first year in the Ft. Lauderdale area since 2004 or so, and it is the height of the tourist season. Chris
The best time I ever had associated with numismatics was at FUN a few years back. Alas, not to be this time.
Will my RV fit in the convention center? I'm driving down this year and staying at a local campground (maybe). I hope I can take a dragger (small car in tow) but not sure yet. Hence the question.....will an 31 foot RV fit into the convention center? And what's the traffic like in down town 'Lauderdale?
With the steady stream of campers and RV's the tourists bring to town, I would expect them to have room somewhere for you. They accommodate buses and such, why not RV's. Now if you are talking about an overnight stay with hook-ups, I would bet the reservation number could help you Green. I would think many of the public beach areas and local public parks must have something. There are many close by.
That sounds like one of my neighbors. When it is parked out in front of his house, you loose track and forget which is which.
The time to make reservations was months ago. I'd be surprised if there were a lot of rooms left. Book them now! I will not be going to FUN this year. Ft. Lauderdale is too far to drive, and I don't want the expense and hassle of flying. Rather than spend a thousand bucks on plane tickets and hotels, I think I'll just attend the auction electronically and spend it there. I really enjoy going to FUN and will miss everyone. Next year is back to Orlando, I think, so I'll be there.
