I should've followed you @Sallent you did tell me some time back you would do something similar to this. I think its very noble thing for you to do. Yeah I'd love to have it. It's in my wheelhouse & I don't have any dolphins. Dolphins are probably the #1 reason I miss living in southern Cali. There are people way more deserving than I. @desertgem , I know (even if you don't remember) we've had some difference in the not so distant past. But I have to say I didn't think you had it in you, thanks for making Sallents thread a "feature theead". It may lead to others getting the "Ancient bug".
Honestly, I would simply love to own that marvelous piece of history. But couldn't afford any near that nice. Would be excellent to graduate to ancients.
You'd be surprised at what you can afford in ancients. I don't know what your budget is, but there are coins at pretty much every price point, and with a little effort you can find some nice coins for under twenty dollars.
I'm mostly a lurker so my post probs doesn't count for much but my name is philip like the coin and its Wednesday so I'd like a win. My wonderful wife who lets me buy coins is also preggo with our first. Cheers
I wouldn't know where to start, who can be trusted, or what I even really like about them more, the coin or the story behind the coin. So many diff. Thought Alexander the great maybe ? ( after this one of course. )
LOL I love all the association with "FLUFFY" Gabriel Iglesias... Calls himself FLUFFY Thanks for your description of Lawyers NOT being Amblance Chasers LOL, I am beginning to see the resemblance...
Thank you for this. It would be my first "ancient" (I assume that Chinese and Japanese string coins aren't really ancient.), which I would give to my friend who loves dolphins. She's been busy collecting black clothes for the Thais who can't afford black, due to the mourning requirement that has been instituted by public mobs in Thailand. I just think it'd be a nice "pick me up."
I am intrigued by this coin and the prospect of owning another ancient coin. I do have three ancient coins to my name; the most interesting one to me being the bust of Jesus Christ on it. I have learned that coin collecting requires more research than anything and I haven't had the time to devote to ancients yet. They do, however, intrigue me very much and owning a cool coin like that will "dolfinitely" require some research. I "porpoise" you send me this coin and give me another challenge and coin to write about. I promise not to turn this into a "Flipper" but instead keep it in my collection.
Cough-his signature-cough cough! At least you can't say you can't get decent, genuine ancients in any price range.
That dolphin coin reminded me of this video, which always makes me smile: And hopefully it made you smile too.
One more. I want this because it is the only object in the known universe that is older than some of V. Kurt Bellmans longwinded, argumentative, posts can get. LOL and it's purty.
Sallent, I have never been interested in collecting ancients before nor have I ever had one, but maybe seeing or having one of these coins will entice me to start. Dave
I won't enter because I've already received a coin from you (thanks again). But here's a little addition of how I feel about this contest.
I have mainly been interested in US coins, and I only have a couple of low-grade copper roman coins. The one that you have will help me advance my numismatic education and appreciation for ancient coins. Thank you for your consideration, and for the opportunity. - Brandon S.
