Hi All,Have been slowly collecting my sets of MPC,s. This is my latest one, series 692, 20 dollar note. Was surprised to see an Indian Chief on the front. Hoover Dam on back. Also a pic of my MPC Album. I find these to be an interesting part of history, and I like the artistry and images. A nice break from my coins and medals. I like to mix it up, so I don't get burnt out on any particular numismatic genre. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_payment_certificate
Ya. Too bad prices didn't reflect the lack of popularity here on CoinTalk. I haven't added to my collection in a while...
I agree, been chipping away at it slowly. Getting average condition specimens. Seems there is high demand out there for sure, and graded ones are very pricey.
It is the Roosevelt Dam, not Hoover Dam. If you have not done so already, get Schwan's MPC catalog. The Indian is Chief Ouray.
Thought you might like to see a close-up of the original engraving of Chief Ouray, the portrait used on your MPC.
Its a good get !! got it at an awesome price point, saw it,s PMG brother going for $2,500 on a auction site recently
