Am I the only person in the WORLD to own one of these? I’m hoping to draw people out of the woodwork (pun intended) and show me theirs.
Read the history of this particular wooden nickel. The Fed’s could arrest me for processing illegal coinage!
Ha, last time I was in TX in the DFW area I went to a fancy-ish pub thinking I'd have a Lone Star or Pearl or whatever to relive my college days, so I ask the waitress "Do you have any Texas beer?", and she says "We have Miller Lite."
That will never happen. First, it’s not coinage as it was put out by the bank. It’s also an advertisement for the bank. And the date of expiration was over 60 years ago this year.
well it was a hot day and the beer was cold and the barkeep was buying. And a nice museum by the way. Don't know if its still there. They stopped making Lone Star a few years after I was there. But maybe there brewing again??
You might be thinking of Pearl? They closed in 2001 but it was relaunched in 2020 in a much smaller market. They do, and they currently make Lone Star at the Miller brewery in Fort Worth. Back in the day, Miller Lite seemed to be all anyone drank down there. I thought it was funny that "Texas beer" meant Miller Lite to her. That same pub had New Belgium Fat Tire listed under Imports. That also cracked me up.
Wow San Antonio Durty Nelly's Irish Pub on the river walk that brings back memories, and buy the way Lone Star beer is just bad beer.
