eBay continues to allow cheap fake Chinese junk to be sold on their site. I just reported another shyster. Seller selling 1892 CC morgans for 35 bucks. 9 sold, 9 more to sell. This will be the death of coin collecting if they don't pull their heads out of their posterior regions, Common sense goes a long way. Ad clearly says "seller from China". I'm more worried about innocent purchasers reselling and truly not knowing it's trash and reselling to more unsuspecting buyers, I reported them but the cattle are already out of the corral for many illegitimate coins.
That's why some people call it "Fleabay" I guess. More like "sleazebay" if you ask me. (I don't know why you would but just in case).
I'd be busy as a beaver trying to do so. Maybe I'll do it tomorrow, there are so many. I reported five just a few minutes ago.
Flea bay is a fair assessment. It's like a flea market, but automated. There are deals to be had but...... buyer beware. What makes my blood boil is sweating out the USPS to DO THEIR JOB and deliver.
There’s a reason behind eBay being reticent to self police. Here in Louisville the city doesn’t require safety equipment to be worn at the skate park. The reason? Liability. As soon as they require the safety equipment they are responsible for enforcing it being worn. I’m wondering if something similar is at play here. second. If eBay is going to self police, they need experts who can review every post for authenticity. In coins alone how many people is that? Now branch out to each category and subcategory they have. third. Why would they pay money to employees when buyers will report bad auctions and sellers for free? finally, eBay isn’t an auction house. Think of it more like a mall. Do you blame the mall or the store for the fact that most of what’s sold is in fact junk?
Tell me about it. Every time I go there, I always feel dirty when I leave, lol. What I think about is all the people that are inexperienced and uneducated in Numismatics getting ripped off. Link please......
Here is one. I deleted all the rest of them out of my que. Follow this one and you'll see several more in "related listings" under this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/395632358032
I was not nice. lol. Other than the denticles being a train wreck, they make good fakes. They are getting very good at their counterfeiting these days. No longer do they all look like dull listless dogs.
