    Just got this.....

    Imperial Rome
    AV Aureus ND (316AD) R-3
    Siscia Mint
    Licinius I 308-24AD

Coin appeared in Ars Classica auction and was graded FDC. Licinius was plotting with the Goths in 324AD and after Constantine I found out, he was captured and hanged. image00388.jpg

How many gold coins from the Siscia mint do you now have?

Just heading off to work/ have one coin I want to win from Nomisma/ put in bid/ no other bids yet. You should get that AV Solidus Jovian MS / French Auction. Its from Siscia Mint and MS. You sent me info on that.

Good luck with your Nomisma bid, are you bidding on one of the Roman Republican Gold coins on offer?

As for the Jovian Solidus, it is from the Sirmium mint, not from the Siscia mint, but that isn't the issue, the issue is that I don't like Jovian, plus I have something like 8200 EUR tied up in bids at various auctions, and the Jovian Solidus has a starting price of 4500 EUR, so there is absolutely zero chance that I will bid on it.

I also sent you the information on the coin this thread is about, maybe I should start charging you a finder's fee? :p ;)

Thanks for all your help. Once I am done work in three months/ I will return the favor. I put a bid on a Florence AV Sacudo d'oro ND from Cosimo I de Medici/ I ended up bidding 3K it sold for 3200:( Coin was FDC and unique.

    You are welcome. :)

I just saw it, it is a nice coin and was cheap considering for how much such coins usually go for at Nomisma's auctions.

esp. when compared to US coins. Some Double Eagles where there are 300 known sell for 100K.
