    It might be one of those coins that someone hammered between two pieces of leather.

    I suppose we'd want to examine the edge, then. One thing that's apparent, it's not on quarter stock.

    Looks pretty low relief for a 1940 - I agree it must have been flattened somehow.

    Does anybody else think there are a few spots of missing clad on that 1965 quarter? It might be worth the 20c you were ripped off of.
