I had forgotten about this until just now, so I thought I'd post it before I start making dinner and forget again. I bought this, along with other quarters, in a partially filled tube at $5 each recently. This one seems to have a RPM, but under a loupe I can see a 3rd serif of the "D" mintmark. I think I saw something like a D/D/D/D/D for this year (one in each direction) but this is obviously not that. The 3rd serif is almost impossible to see under my scope, but it was very cheap from Amazon, so I'm not surprised really. Do you have any information about this D/D/D that I'm not seeing? Looks like I might have at least covered my cost for buying them at least, but either way, I just like silver!
I had checked that site before but had to stop before I was finished. Just looking at it again, the MM on this quarter doesn't match those on that specific page. It looks like mine is moving Eastward but those examples don't indicate anything like that.
To have it only on the MM is a little odd though, isn't it? I can't spot it anywhere else on it, obverse or reverse.
I have a similar thing on a 1964-D 25c found in change a few years ago. It's a worn/damaged die at the MM, not MD or RPM. That's what David Lange (RIP) told me on the NGC forum.
