Okay, another acquisition/order from Daniel Carr, for the 1964D Fantasy Token Morgan Dollar. This was a coin that COULD have existed, as the mint was somewhat flexible on the 1964 D issue--Peace versus Morgan at that time. We all know how it was resolved, but there well could have been a 64 Denver Morgan, had the desire to return to that design been a fait accompli. Here is the seller's picture, as it was just ordered. This is the high grade, hand sorted version, and will probably grade at 68-69 by ANACS, when I get it and submit it. As usual, my picture will follow. Now, be nice in the discussion of said issue.

    That'll be the day. :p

I'm tempted to buy one just to get it under my lens and subject it to the same level of scrutiny as a "normal" Morgan. I want to see where the die lines are in the hair. :)

I'm also waiting on mine. I'll also be in for the DMPL/Proof version if there is one. :)

(First negative comment about D Carr issues). You heard it here first folks! All jokes aside that is a really nice coin. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford some!

He made the following year's Peace dollar at my suggestion. Now if I could get that Oregon Half he did my life would be better.

I actually prefer the bulk handled DC pieces. They look more like real stuff to me. I like them because I appreciate the ironic social commentary of his pieces. I don't see the material difference between his pieces and say, Monaco's tribute Brasher Doubloons.

I ordered one too. Thought about the 'bulk handled', but opted for the higher quality. God save me......

Morgandude wants a 20 page bonanza too? Ah, I'll focus on the other thread. For now. Muah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

I prefer the "bulk handled" version as well. I'm hoping that elements of the original host coin won't be too prominent, though. DC did state that this could be a possibility on some coins since the overstrike usually isn't perfectly aligned. We'll see. I'll post pics of mine when I get them, hopefully tomorrow. I ordered both versions.

You really know how to hurt a guy, Greenie. I recently picked up at auction a cheap 26-S Oregon Trail that looks like it was used as a pocket piece. At $50, I figured, "Why not?"

I like the bulk a lot more. More character and doesn't look as "fake" (sorry for that word!!!) as the high grade one.

I LOVE the pristine, satiny appearance of the GEM version, but the BULK version does look more authentic. I agree.
