Hey everyone! New thread here. I'm calling it "Shield Nickel Saturday!". Please post yours as well. These are all 1868's but three different varieties: (FS903, 904 and 906). Can you spot the differences?
A die crack exists in the IGWT motto. Starts with the I and ends at the U. The same motto also shows doubling which I believe was caused by the cracked die.
Something about those proof shield nickels. Such an attractive proof coin. Almost makes me feel like the lines in the shield are shape enough to cut….. Absolutely lovely.
I’ll offer up this one. I am not a person that collects toned coins but the color of this old nickel screamed at me to make her my own.
Someday I might buy a Proof With Rays Nickel, but for now it's a Mint State piece. I bought the first piece raw almost 30 years ago. NGC graded it MS-64.
