I would be at a 63 on this coin. True, it has no really distracting marks in the field and on the cheek, which would normally make me lean towards 64 or 65, but the coin cannot overcome the flatness of the strike in the center of the obverse. This, IMHO is unacceptable for a coin that grades 65, and would knock it to a 3 for me.

Rare case where the reverse holds the grade back. Also agree with @mikenoodle above. It is a weak strike on the obverse even for an O.

I think it's the flatness of the strike on the reverse of the eagle's breast, just IMO. I have seen 64's with a bald breast before though from the New Orleans mint. Even so, I'll be tickled with a 63 or better though, I really have no reason to whine considering. Thanks for all of the replies!

Even if the obverse is weak, even for an O-Mint, that weak strike shouldn't be held against the grade anymore than a strong strike should up the grade. Could make a technical 65, I think. I think it's at least a technical 64.

As usual, I think you nailed it. I didn't notice that tiny cud in the denticles near the V in the neck. I still don't have it hand. I'm going to go postal on the USPS if they've lost ANOTHER coin in the mail. It has been sitting in my city's distribution center for the 3rd day in a row. :muted:

Hey, a different shot and taker of a photo show's the contact in a different light. Also shows the Luster in a different way.
Get some photos when it comes in.

IF it shows up. It's been sitting in the local USPS distribution center for THREE DAYS. They've already lost one. It's not a transaction until delivered.:muted:

I'm ready to go full on postal on the US Postal Service. They've lost this coin with their normal stellar ineptitude. This is the second one this summer that they have lost and this one really stings. :muted: Even though I'll get my money back I am livid, I do not want my money back, I want this coin. :muted:
