Seller thinks it's in XF to AU shape . I say, high ( 65 ) MS condition and for $9.00 dollars, you can't go wrong . Here's the link to ebay . http://www.ebay.com/itm/371746566063?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
The way to tell the die state ( Obverse ) is from the distances between the W & E of WE . This is a very early die state ( Obverse ) .. As for the Reverse, 71 is a weak year ( P & D mint-marks ) for reverses .
So you attribute what I see as wear to die state/strike? I don't know this series, but although it looks lustrous, it looks like there is high point wear to me.
Remember, coin images are from a coin, in a plastic flap which shows glare, so I look at the spacing between the W & E for die state on the Obverse, again images show glare which hide areas . Same for reverse, plastic flap, so for staging, I go to IDDD site on this Variety . http://www.ikegroup.info/?page_id=216 Not sure if mine was from same die ( Reverse ) sites one has clashes from off the eagles shoulder, to the earth and from the other side of the earth, to the " U " in UNUM . Which means sites image is a later die state, and or, OP coin is hiding the clashes because coin in a plastic flap ...
Here's some good new to me and hopefully to IDDD site for who owns the trade-mark to this company, hopefully one day it will come back up . https://trademarks.justia.com/853/32/iddd-ike-dollar-doubled-die-85332145.html
For what it sold for ($15) it does not matter if that attractive coin is MS or AU! I opened the link to buy it.
The ludicrous (and likely illegal under the terms of Fair Use, and certainly too restrictive for the Internet) disclaimer they preface that site with has prevented me from ever entering it. I won't, nor will I ever recommend it to anyone. Those are people who plainly enjoy litigation more than numismatics. Heck, Rick, you violated their TOS in this thread if the pickups you mentioned here are enumerated on that site.
Can you get to "slider" AU-Unc range? Look at the blazing cartwheel! IMO, that coin will sell at AU+ all day long.
Maybe, but I can,t see the blazing cartwheel thru all the haze and scratches. I will agree with au-bu slider though. The plastic flip is probably clouding the picture!
The coin is worth grading...that should settle its grade. I vote solid AU and closer to MS than to XF!
The photo is taken with a very bright light, as seen by the reflection on the top. I just don,t like the overall look of the coin, regardless of the cartwheel effect. Would be an O K album filler coin, but why not spend a few more bucks on a genuine B U coin in a slab? Look on E-Bay...there are dozens of PCGS Ms 65s,many with cartwheel or toning, for less than $25! Buy a roll of B U coins for $38.

The site I posted is from a law firm and I don't think their worried about anything, me either ............
Thanks, my slab cost me $100+ three years ago! Guess many more are around now. I shall get some to "average out" as I believe in the variety.
