Man, it's been way too long since I've listened to any Van Morrison. Thanks for the reminder! I'm tempted to post a Van the Man Top 10, but will just go with this one for now.
Awesome tune @zumbly I've been on a bit of a Van kick lately since I watched his performance on the last waltz. I've got to admit I didn't know a lot of his stuff other than brown eyed girl but man what a great artist.
Tupelo Honey would definitely be in my Top 10 . One thing that VM and ancient coins have in common... you can learn a lot from both of them.
No doubt. Since I mentioned it already this song of his is number one to me. And I picked up this nice little coin from JA yesterday I've been on a real empress kick lately
Yah-yah, I know that I'm gonna wreck the Van Morrison vibe, but sorry, I can't help myself ... oh and hey, my wife and I are both huge Van-fans (oddly, especially my young wife), but I can't resist adding-in this sweet cover-tune by Everclear ... *whatev* ... just adding-in another layer of onion for you coin-dudes ... => here's a Brown-eyed girl for ya ...
Hey, Steve, some may disagree, but I've never considered Everclear to ever have wrecked anything. Certainly not the... Have a good weekend!
Everyone always links revolutions with dictatorships, but there was a time Democracy was the most revolutionary, extreme, and radical idea....so here is a coin from those extremist radical Athenians who unleashed the revolution of Democracy upon the world. And here is the song Revolution from one of the group that brought us the British Invasion and unleashed a rock revolution that transformed music forever.
My name sake And my coin, which has been posted at least half a dozen times in other threads. AE Shekel of Jerusalem: Enjoy! Erin
good call, lawyer => I love the White Album ... it is definitely etched in my mind (I was born in 1963, so this baby was rockin' in my house when I was in Grade 1 ... my oldest brother is 12 years older than me, so this was his go-to album!!) => thanks for the memory, lawyer (yah, that is an awesome flash-back tune) Kinda funny, because I remember wondering what was wrong with Dear Prudence ... again, I was in Grade-1 so this seemed like quite a mystery to me ("why don't you come out to play?") ... hmmm, but I think my favourite was While My Guitar Gently Weeps ...
I'm surprised I didn't do this one sooner Plautilla AR Denarius PS: Sorry guys, I don't do a lot of modern. It's mostly classics from the 60's through 80's for me, even though I was a mid-80's baby.
Nahapana produced coins in the first century AD as the Scythian invaded India. On the reverse of the coin is a Thunderbolt. Although the indigenous Satavahana pushed the Indo- Scythians out of there realm for a short time they were definitely... Thunderstruck...
http://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/7704/ Of course more examples exist even if they are not known to us but it is a rare city and a rare coin.
@paschka, he meant where is your song or music video. This is a fun thread where we post a coin and a song we like, or a song that somehow relates to the coin.
El Cazador clump of four coins stuck together. Given to me by Craig Boyd, who fished them off the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. You can see the reeded edge on most of them. Cool colors and encrustation. Never going to clean these guys. John
