the mint after offering the rolls and bags of prez dollars at a premium to the general public. said after the close of sale on each prez dollar. the mint should allow collectors and investors to get as many as they want directly from them at face value plus actual shipping cost. this way, the collectors and investors can help the mint distribute some to the general public. and help mint reduce its huge inventory of dollar coins. the problem right now are the banks. most of the tellers at the banks doesn't want to go to their vault to get coins for people who want them. simple answer is we don't have it right now. how can the mint get those prez dollars out?. what are your ways to help mint distribute its prez dollars successfully?. tell us.
They can send an armored truck full of them directly to my house. I'll guarantee I'll do my part in distributing them, through commerce, to the public via circulation. Guy~
thanks to new york metropolitan transit authority i bought a long island railroad $3.00 ticket. i put in $10.00 note. the change came out seven pieces of dollar coins. i got two brand new prez adams, one 1999 susan anthony and four sac dollars date 2000 - 2001. i am very happy. because i don't have prez adams. that was yesterday. but today, i got four rolls of prez adams from my bank.
distribution about 7,191,925 pc of prez washington dollars were bought by collectors for a premium from the u.s. mint. another 2,615,925 pc of prez adams dollars and 2,341,400 pc of sacagawea dollars. source from n.news jul 3 issue. as of may,2007: the mint announced that there were 340,360,000 pc of prez. washington dollars. 224,560,000 pc of prez. adams. and 7,560,000 pc of sacagawea dollars. those figures is far lesser than the westward journey nickels. i don't think there will be many pieces use for circulation. 2004 peace medal: 733,400,000 2004 keelboat: 711,600,000 2005 am. bison: 936,000,000 2005 ocean in view: 805,200,000 2007 washington $: 340,360,000 2007 jodn adams $: 224,560,000
I have been doing my part to distribute the Prez dollars. Five rolls so far. Very little surprise from clerks when I pay with the dollars. When payday rolls around, I'll buy a few more rolls, and continue the distribution!!!!
thank God we have someone like you willing to help distribute the new prez dollars. so far, i got 45 roll. and i gave one piece to someone and that's it. but i do change a lot of circulated dollars and use it very frequently.
The individual efforts some of us are making-- sometimes to very strange and occassionally dirty looks-- are commendable, but the only large-scale effective way to get these circulating is to withdraw the dollar bill.
I had been trying to help distribute the new dollars, but the damn banks and credit unions make it hard... They never seem to have them in stock and are less then friendly, whn you ask about them... Its no wonder they don't circulate...
One way for the Mint to boost circulation of coins is to target high crime businesses. For Example: The local 7-11 gets robbed 2-3 times a year. The thieves make off with about $200 on average leaving the change behind in the till. Most of the bills they get are $1 bils. By switching to $1 coins, the store would reduce the amount a thief makes off with. This might even reduce their exposure to robbery as thieves become aware that the store is switching to coins.
get rid of dollar bill i think you right. get rid of the dollar bill. another thing is to impose regulation for banks. that they should give people who would like to change the dollar coins. and also ask banks to accept dollar coins depositing to them. and lastly the mint should allow general public to get dollar coins directly at face dollar plus shipping cost.
get rid of dollar bill next time, the thief come with pals. they even have to wear hand gloves. because they want to check if they could find some prez dollars with plain edge. and make a fortune.
I've been spending them here and there. At the carnival i was just at last week, I saw in their till was a bunch of half dollar and prez dollars. I didn't have any on my at that time but if i did i would have used them. At the bank when i went to get some half dollars they didn't have any, but the lady offered me some of the Adams dollars. They always seem to have them on hand when i need them. Very friendly bank, but they WILL NOT order halves.
bank roll it is hard to get circulated rolls from the bank if you are not their customer. beside that, for halves and dollars. it will be harder i guess. recently i bought 200 pc of ike circulated dollars at $1.25 each from a dealer.
Back them with Silver again ;P The are worse problems to have to solve.. but I'll try: The TELLER problem is a big one. What is it about that job that just attracts that sort? The queen-bee head-teller's attitude is picked up by the trainees too. How about if we MAKE WELFARE CHECKS PAYABLE ONLY IN DOLLAR COINS. That would get them out there. Once, I saw an ethnic leader state that all consumers of that particular ethnicity will start using dollar coins to pay for goods... the point was to show the spending power in a way that would be visible to all. The mint might champion a similar cause for.. Government workers or something. "show your pride" or perhaps "finish the war" (note I neither said WITHDRAW nor did I say NUKE-EM ALL). Encourage Americans to collect them and relate the act to buying "war bonds". My point.. a campaign of some sort would do it. I have been searching my case so slow, insted of bringing them back to the bank, I have been spending them EVERYWHERE. 700 of ADAMS so far. I see at my local banks that cirrculated presidentials are in the tills... probably from me. Cirrculated ones are going to be more rare than MS coins. local, and Jersey slot machines don't like them They've all gone to PAPER receipts and CREDIT swipe. The machines now have to "click" a fake coin noise when theres a payout. We're all doomed.
This is the ONLY way my bank will do that... by the case. Try to never bring back the searched rolls to the same bank either. They have to unwrap them all. My bank actually sends the returned rolls OUT (back to the FED or distribution center probably) rather than putting them in the vault/tills. they despise the dollar coins. They also hate COUNTING them at the end of the day. I beleive THAT is the biggest reason they say "no, don't have any" because if they never get them out of the vault, they don't have to count them at the end of the day.
counting coins what's the different when you have to count cent to quarter at the close of a day?. isn't it the same. if the owner knows it. you might be fire......
sac dollar today i changed eight rolls of circulated dollar coins from my bank. and checked it immediately. i got 19 susan anthony dollar. 23 john adams, 20 george washington dollar, and the rest were sacagawea dollar. for the first time. i was able to hold and play with prez dollars. before i got 53 roll of new uncirculated prez dollars. composed of 33 roll of washington and 20 roll of john adams. and i only opened one washington roll to see and check if any with an error. on the otherhand, the circulated rolls that i checked. i think most people used adams dollars a lot than the washington one. the ratio is 23 vs: 20. while production stated 224 mil vs: 340 mil. finally, i will re-deposit two rolls to my bank. those composed of damaged, dirty, dented, heavy scratch & ugly toned.
