Dansco 7070 - how many types do you have without collecting them?

I've seen a lot of posts regarding people collecting the 7070 type set. So I found a list and thought I'd see how many I have despite never trying to collect them. I was surprised to see that I have 35 out of the 76 holes in the 7070! Hope my count was correct, excluding the extra gold page, and 4 of them are blank slots for commemorative half dollars - I counted one of those. Oh wait, I have two of those - I forgot my 1921 Pilgrim! Make that 36 slots "filled." I'm not counting my 1861 seated dime, because it's a contemporary counterfeit.

This made me curious - how many types do you have without really trying? Many of them of course are pretty easy.

I’m in the neighborhood of 40-45 but I do have a 7070 album. However all the coins in it are of a higher grade than circulation can provide. I’m down to some of them a gonna cost a small fortune or be of s lower quality.

Last one I'm still missing is the Seated Liberty dollar with motto.

I do not have a 7070 set per se but I do have all of the coins required for one in my NGC registry type set. I will never complete the registry set because there are six coins I will never be able to afford: The 1793 left facing half cent, the 1793 chain cent, the 1792 Disme, the 1796 quarter and half dollar, and a Gobrecht dollar.

The 7070 is a fun set to build. If you can please post an image of the 1861 Dime. I collect stuff like that.

Very old pics but you get the idea. Very likely came from my Civil War ancestor via my grandmother. It was in my childhood album for at least 40 years before I read that there were two obverse types that year and I tried to figure out which one it was. I identified the type alright - Type 101 counterfeit. https://www.seateddimevarieties.com/cf_date/1861_101page.htm

I don't know what you mean by that. I'm sure there are a lot of collectors with a wide variety of coins who don't realize how many 7070 types they have (or care).

I am 2 coins away from completeing my 7070 (no gold) I need the 2 seated liberty dollars.. The set can be viewed here with only the 1853 quarter and half not shown (I have both in icg slabs in xf but they don't count/show up at NGC registry)
On a side note, the NGC 7070 has added the modern circulation releases (presitential, innovation, and a few others) bringing the total to 83 coins of which I have 81 :D I'm still waiting for them to add the new Nickle types since they added the shield cents, CTD quarter, womans quarter and dollars...

    Outstanding @dwhiz as well as
    @Troodon @Tall Paul @mrweaseluv
    Y'all have done very well.
@Cheech9712 I've always admitted to being very different, even strange, I guess? But, I'm one of them. I don't have a 7070. Don't have a list of what's in one. I just like to have "different" types of coins. I used @dwhiz's photos to see what I have. It's not complete, I'm missing 2, I think? One is a Half Dollar Commerative 1983 to present (I may have one, but not sure and can't look right now), and I don't have a Silver Dollar Seated Liberty 1866-1873 w/motto. I have 3 gold coins: 1851 $1 Liberty Head, 1851 $2 1/2 Liberty Head, and a 1906 $5 Liberty Classic Head. I have no clue what is in the Gold Set, but I for sure am not close to having it, and don't care what's in it because I'm not interested in completing it. I just collect what I like, what I can afford, and generally one that I don't have one like. I had no idea that I was that close to having a 7070 set? Thanks for the pictures, @dwhiz.

Nice coin. The toning gives it a great look.
I remember when the 7070 first came out. I liked it so much that I did two more. With the first one, I think I had about 80% and the rest were getting into much higher value coins. It's been fun.

I've got 26 holes left to fill, but a fair amount of them could definitely use an upgrade. I'm aiming for a couple of things with it. To get it done with relative speed, and to upgrade the coins in it when I come across them.

There are holes to fill that I already have the coins, I just haven't gotten to locating them or pulling them from their tombs.

A Sacagawea my brother gave to me on his wedding day (I was best man) a 50 state quarter and steel penny from my dad's collection and my bodybagged 2 cent piece are mine and waiting for their home... but I think the 7070 is fun! It probably won't be so fun when it comes time to filling those expensive holes, but I'll enjoy it all the same, albeit slower. 20240723_182107.jpg 20240723_182133.jpg 20240723_182208.jpg 20240723_182237.jpg 20240723_182254.jpg

Edit to add: I was not intending on the 7070. I actually started off with Morgan albums, but purchased a nice variety of coins as I saw them and liked them. This is the result. Been collecting for about a year now.

Maybe I should get one. I think I would only have to crack out the Eisenhower bicentennial. I would have trouble getting this one in the hole though.

Never collected the 7070, but I have all of them except the w motto seated dollar.

When I started collecting it was with the Whitman type set books that include the 18th century coins that the 7070 doesn't and other subtypes not listed in the 7070. The Whitman books have 111 holes, I still need 11 of them.
Flowing hair half dime, Draped bust small eagle half dime, Draped bust heraldic eagle half dime,
    Flowing hair dime,
    1796 quarter,
Flowing hair half dollar, Draped bust small eagle half dollar,
Flowing hair dollar, Draped bust small eagle dollar, Draped bust heraldic eagle dollar, and with motto seated dollar.

If I really tried I could get ten of those, but the draped bust small eagle half is going to stay out of my reach for good.
