what is your best find from coin roll hunting? it can be anything copper, silver, or gold. also if you metal detect then post your best metal detecting find. there are no rules.

I found a mercury dime in coin roll hunting a $250.00 box. I also won the bet on the first mercury dime for in roll hunting with now my ex-girlfriend. the winner finding the first mercury dime got a very nice dinner at their favorite restaurant. the dinner was nice, but the bragging rights last a life time. ha ha haaaa...

 

1982 DDR Lincoln Cent discovery coin (see my avatar). Sold it for $4000

 

I think my best overall day CRH was back when I was in undergrad at U of Illinois. Out of one $500 box, I pulled about 115 90% halves. Walkers, Franklins, Kennedys.

Best individual finds: gold wedding band, MS62 1977 D DDO.

Picked up a $500 bag once, noticed a funny ring to it when it shifted. Opened it up, sure enough there was a good men's wedding band. Tried for a couple weeks to contact all the local branches to see if anyone had reported one missing. Never found the original owner, though.

My best find was my first find. When I was a kid my Dad tore down our back porch to make room for construction of an additional room. The original house had been built in the 1920s and the porch floor had wide slits between the boards. I remember peering through those slits as a small kid and seeing some glimpses of silver in the dirt from coins that had fallen down and rolled between the slits over the years. Once the porch came down, I went through the ground and dug up all the coins I could find. I don't remember the exact count but I must have found at least a dozen coins, most of them dimes and quarters from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. My Dad explained to me how all of it was silver since it was mostly pre-1964 coinage (I'm guessing something must have happened sometime during 1940s where somebody dropped a bag or a purse while they were on the porch and a bunch of coins were lost and they didn't think it was worth tearing up the porch floor to get them I'm not sure what else would why so many of the coins were pre-1964).

Anyway, that's what got me excited about coins and I started collecting after that. Unfortunately, I've never been able to hit a jackpot like that again at one time!

well I kind of figured they were gonna be all new, but I was just wanted to open 1 of the 20 rolls that were new. I love that new copper look on these for photography purposes only. strange how that dark brown cent found its way into this roll. (aliens put it there lol). I much prefer a carmel chocolate color brown for cents.

Im new to this forum and new to coin collecting but find it to be a lot of fun.
I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to help me out with this 1943 P Jefferson Nickel. In my photos you will see on the reverse that the E PLURIBUS is missing the US. I'm viewing it with magnification but still can't see the US. Would this be an error or just considered super faded? I know that the 1964 nickel had some reverse E PLURIBUS spelt E PLURIDUS in error but I can't find any 1943P nickels missing letters. Any suggestions as to what this is would be greatly appreciated.
