I posted the results of NGC grading for two LS quarters I had previously posted for "Pre-Guess the Grade". That submission included two other raw coins not previously posted. Here they are with pre-grade photos and the photo of the slab obverse. The first one is an 1821 JR-3 Large Date Dime. I had this one in my set raw as AU-55 Details-Cleaned and that's exactly how it came back from NGC. The second coin is 1806 O-109 Draped Bust Half Dollar. I had it raw in my set as VG-8 but NGC judged it VG-10. Can't complain there. BTW, my last two submissions to NGC the turnaround time has been less than two weeks.
Amazing coins. Both are part of my metal detecting bucket list! Lovely even with the details grade. Thanks for sharing.
Both coins are beautiful. Easy to see why the first one is details but that second one is definitely a VG-10. Very nice indeed and she worked for a living.
I like to see coins that are submitted to NGC ....etc.. I learn by looking at them. Thank you for showing the coins that you had graded. I do have a question tho. I only gave coins that are graded by 3 companies and I have been pleased with their work. Like you have done with these coins, You examine the coins at home before submitting them to a grader. Do you keep a record of what you do? Thank you for your work, and please send what work you to go through to get a good grade. I'm a retired Internal Auditor from a major university and enjoy watch people, such as are in Cointalk and take pride in their work as well as helping others do better in their work.
I keep meticulous records of what I have in excel files, in word documents and jpg photo files. For the two coins shown, I can tell you when and where I acquired them, from whom, what I paid for them, the die marriage attributions, my own raw coin grade, the now-current NGC grade and certification number, the date of certification, what I paid for the certification including separate accounts and receipts for shipping, photos of everything about the coin including close-up annotated photos of the die marriage pickup points. For coins I've sold I keep all the above records plus all the pertinent information related to the sale. That is typical for every coin in my collections. It is probably completely AR.
Ha when my wife was a banker back in the day her nickname was “ copious notes “ when she retired we had to rent a shredder dumpster, I swear she had copies of everything
