PCGS...........and I'm gonna confess. I bought the holder. Keep that in mind. I'll reveal when we get 10 or so replies.
Alright. Erry body is July 4thing it, so no more suspense. I saw a coin in equal grade auctioning for $500 and it still had another day to go. So, I started looking around at comps in the same grade. Made an offer and got it for less than some that were 100-$300 higher. Weird. My first MS66.
I was scrolling down, going to rate as MS65. A great looking coin and appears to be a great buy for the grade andactual appearance of the coin.
Thanks. I actually kind of snicker when some look down on ANACs grading. They seem to be tougher technically based on my recent experience. But I'll keep sending them raw coins unless they are seriously rare. I can always crossover, even if I have to crack them out.
I was debating MS 64 vs MS 65 and planned to go with MS 64. It seemed to have a bit too much chatter but maybe that is just the picture being large. The full slab shot looks better and I can sort of see the 66 (it is cleaner than I originally figured).
It looks like they used the luster only to put this one in the 66 category. The contact to the cheek alone should bring this one down at least a point. With seeing the luster. I would go 65.
Barney a 65 and 66 by the grading standards should have a significant change in the luster. Premium Gems have a deep dark brilliant full luster. The only thing that can get in the way is distracting marks, bag marks , and luster grazes.
