A friend of mine saw this on his local CoinStar terminal and thought it was pretty hilarious. I agree.

Betcha they’ve gotten every one of those items on the banned list… and then some!

(Zoom in for the fine print)

Wheat is banned, but corn and barley aren’t mentioned. And no Eisenhower silver dollars. But what about the clad ones? ;)

Having worked on those machines and others like them I can verify that all of those items have been found in the machines. A few not mentioned include chicken nuggets, marijuana seeds, oily coin, wedding rings and my number one favorite Bullets. It is these items in counting machines that have kept me in a job for 44 years.

Why do they have a reject bin?

I know for a fact that dried feces particles on fingers effects coins that are touched and then inserted in the machine.
    I watched it happen.
    Why is that?

That's all that I ever find in the reject tray - earthworms and fossils!

Oh great. Just when I was ready to cash in my cotton ball and tree bark collection.

I found three extremely greenified, lumpy, crumbling Zincolns and a bobby pin in the reject slot, once. Oh, and a rubber band (one of those small elastic hair bands).

Alas, no 1/10 oz gold Eagle (yes, from reading the coin forums, I know of at least one person finding one of those.)

Flatworms should be allowed, though. Surely they can fit through the slots? :p

My Mom taught me to keep my hands out of things like reject bins. "You'll get your hands caught in there!" she would yell!!!

Ahh, but the reject bin is a basket on the outside of the machine. I’m sure most of the interesting items on this list were found inside, trapped in the guts of the machine.

Another friend of mine reports seeing a razor blade, so yeah, you’re not gonna wanna go groping around up the chute…
