That's great... Well, other than the FACT that it was offered as CIRCULATED! Apparently we've another example of a "buyer" who doesn't bother actually READING before he acts, yet has the gall to accuse the seller of misrepresentation when things don't match his poor assumptions.

The only misrepresentation going on here is in how you, sir, are now presenting this matter to the board.

You can talk about "rub" or try to spin this all you wish, but facts are facts, sir. You agreed to purchase something you clearly knew nothing about, and are now trying to place blame upon the seller instead of accepting the blame you rightfully shoulder. Again, the posted photos are the seller's and if we can see the issues, so could have you, and if you didn't understand what you were looking at, the board was here to help before you agreed to purchase. This isn't an example of a poor seller, but a poor buyer who refuses to accept responsibility for his own poor choices and actions.

Gotta admit that I have been kind of guilty of things like this, bidding on something I saw just before the end. I have also bought ancients and posted here only to find I had bought a fake and was in time to tell the buyer not to ship it.

I'm sure we all have at one time or another, if not with coins with something else. In the other room I have a camera purchased some years ago that I keep around as a reminder not to be so foolish in the future. It's a Topcon Unirex, an utter junk vintage leaf shutter SLR, that I stupidly assumed was the very highly regarded RE model from the same manufacturer. It wasn't much money and I admit that I knew better at the time, but the opportunity presented itself and I jumped. The seller did nothing wrong, and presented the camera in a way that only an idiot would assume it to be something else, but I didn't want to lose it at what would've been a stellar price...

The thrill of the hunt in whatever one's interest are is a big part of the fun. I know this and can't fault anyone for getting overexcited. My first post was mostly meant a suggestion that this could be a good yet inexpensive lesson, but when the seller was falsely accused of misrepresentation more needed to be said. JMHO, of course.

When I said "got a picture", I like to see comparison pics and opinions as to what you look for in a coin, like this 'Columbian'. Here is one I have that I got for $15.00. Average at best but I like it. So how about yours? DSC02369 (2).JPG DSC02370 (2).JPG

I paid $23 for this one, and that was a tad more than I should have. Has a repunched date, but that doesn't add any value... just interest. Nice mid AU.

Nice as you state with the 'repunch date' is that the highlighting around the "9" and "3", again for me to fully understand is it that or is it the boldness of the date itself?

Yes. Top of the 3 is the best place to look for them.

Saw this deep purple toner at a shop and he gave it to me at melt.

    Very nice, sir.

I have to admit to being rather surprised at what people are paying for circs to even low MS examples as posted in this thread. The last of these I ever handled came from a shop, perhaps 50 give/take in total, all AU to MS (mostly lower though) as part of a bulk deal at essentially melt (although at that time melt was higher than now). It paid off nicely overall, mostly due to a number of attractively toned solid examples, but I let the lesser ones go at what now seems to have been a steal price. Oops... ;)

Came in the mail. Sounds like someone here knows or is the seller. You sure seem really defensive if the guy and sure were quick to find the link to the eBay auction. Makes you wonder where your integrity lies.

Anyway, it's not as bad in person as it is in photos. The seller should take a photo class.
I'd still say it's UNC but polished.
