Hey guys, John Roberts of ANACS just published an article in CoinWorld about one of my VAM discoveries. Thought I'd share, enjoy http://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/2016/10/1879-S-morgan-dollar-interesting-acquisition.all.html
I just can't get excited about VAMs. They seem so... inconsequential. Sorry. I'm really happy for you that you discovered a new variety, and that it got published. That is always exciting. I just can't get excited about it.
It's always nice to be able to find a new variety. That is, as long as it isn't a 1921 Scribbles. Chris
Well I can get excited about Vams for a number of reasons. Morgan Dollars are THE backbone of numismatics . Nice find Cascade, keep up the good work, notice how alot of younger collectors are digging Morgan Dollars??? That bodes well for the future, I believe....
Coin World won't load for me, so I'll have to take your word for it. Very pleased to see you get a little recognition; you've done an awful lot for VAMming in a very short time.
Congratulations! Good to see some recognition. Just goes to show there is plenty out there in numismatics to explore.
The reverse on that coin looks like a MS68, haha! I see why they gave it a 64 due to the obverse, but it's a great coin and should CAC. Nice discovery for my famous friend, @Cascade ! Do you think DC will attempt to mimic the die characteristics of this VAM for his next tribute piece??
Looking at the picture of the full obverse, it's almost hard to spot even when you know where it is. Maybe I'm just an oddball who don't get the excitement either...but congrats anyway on your new discovery.
Congratulations. You have a sharp eye and good memory. I'm sure there are more discoveries to come. Cal
Thanks guys. This one, from Leroy's initial reaction to John's article was a nice surprise to say the least. I'm up to 5 discoveries so far with more to come. VAMming is a thrill one cannot fully describe to non-VAMmers so I fully understand how some don't "get it" but be warned, it is addicting if you choose to pursue it
