IMHO, any collector who is not a member of the ANA and does not subscribe to Numismatic News and Coin World at the least is less informed than others who do. ;)

When I draw a straight line down the 1 in the date of #4 and 5, there is a clear difference in the MM position.

Yes, You were correct when you posted this at the beginning. I made an error in my original posted reply for being too "pig-headed" about the number of positions. IMO, number 3 and 4 are the same die and the distance from the coat appears different due to lighting. I'm still at four positions. An overlay of the two dies TAKEN WITH THE SAME LIGHT 7 MAGNIFICATION AT THE SAME TIME is the only thing that will change my mind. And as I wrote, if the difference is that minuscule, it will not be of any help to authenticators; yet, it should be very nice to correct the record for posterity. :joyful:

Been done this road before and I am not going again. You can satisfy your own requirements. Aside from that, #3 and #4 are noticeably different angles. All be it small, it is visible without even over-laying the images. And #4 is lower than #3. Maybe that would account for the different distances from the coat.

Well, thanks for reviving this thread. I still disagree and will wait for some authority higher then either you or I to determine if there are 4, 5, or now even 6 positions. ;)

So you have no proof there are 4? And you have no article from Numismatic News?

:sorry: Only the five photos you provided with two identical = 4. And :sorry: no article from Numismatic News. Perhaps you should consider subscribing. Do you get Coin World?
