Hello All, I wanted to ask if this quarter was DDO or PMD. Thank you for looking. Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
DDO stands for Doubled Die Obverse side. You are showing the Reverse side. I see no Doubling Is the area you are pointing to incused into the field or raised?
Looks to these old eyes as a hit from the edge of another coin which pushed the metal up toward the birds leg and breast.
Considering the number of complaints people have lodged here about poor Mint quality on new issues, this could be just another example of that.
For me it's always Philly coins. I just got a bag each of Philly Cumberland Gap & Harpers Ferry, and so far a lot of reverse, large die chips on the arm of the settler on Cumberland and die abrasions on the H & A at Harper on the Harpers Ferry. I find very little problem coins from Denver or San Francisco. The state quarters on the other hand were a mix of mostly obverse P & D die cracks on rolls I stashed away and am just now getting to.
The quality control issue on this year's gold 100th anniversary coins have convinced me that if I ever reverse course and decide to buy them, they will be slabbed.
Technically speaking, he is referring to the obverse side. The obverse is the side that has the date and the reverse has the denomination. With the State and ATB Quarters Washington was placed on the reverse, which is also why "Quarter Dollar" appears under Washington. I agree, it's not a doubled die, it's a hit.
Thank you all. I will post better pictures. I do have one question, are the legs doubled or is that pmd? Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
