That is a really dumazz cause/effect conclusion on your part.

I know, I know, but I am just responding with my well known and courteous phrasing, as I always do.

No need to thank me. It is just the kind of guy I am.

I do appreciate the attempted innuendo, although I think it is indicative of historical respect for the actions of the darn Brits in 1814. Those limeys...always up to something.

I hope that the owners of the Forum close it down for "service" until February or possibly lose a large percent of the members ( especially the new ones that weren't here 4 years ago ) like we did the majority of ancient coin collectors then.

Ya'LL take yourselves too seriously. That said, for over a grand you would think the holder would at least state that the coin was there, on the premises, that fateful January 6th therefore of great collector interest. You know, like the WTC slab pedigree on coins that were recovered from a vault a block away, somehow making the coins "special"..

I once handled a banknote that was a short-snorter allegedly recovered from the USS Arizona after Pear Harbor. It wasn't certified, but it sure looked like it had been underwater inside a battleship for nearly a century, so the story was kind of compelling. Most sports memorabilia is pretty much worthless without certification nowadays, --photo cert for game worn uniforms and that sort of thing or no one bids. What about coins associated with historic events? Does the 3rd party attribution make you a believer, or are you the skeptical conspiratorial type that dismisses the pedigree as superfluous?

What, did somebody pose with this coin (in its slab) in a Congresscritter's office? While wearing a silly hat?

Beats me!! That's why I posted it. It arguably has a better design than most modern commemoratives, which isn't saying much given how nasty many of them are. But over $1,000 and in an auction, not Buy-It-Now? Maybe it was in the pocket of a congressman as he pulled the fire alarm as a prank. Yes! That must be it, -a prank to commemorate a prank?

In fairness, you have posted targeted innuendos of the same nature. I in my humble helpful unpaid charitable manner, have reminded you whenever you inadvertently and innocently did so.

    YW.

And as a past mod, has reversed his position. It is and was neither right or wrong, it simply is.

You never give up an opportunity for a hidden political innuendo. Tenacity has its uses, I guess.
