Over the past couple of weeks I've bought more coin lots than I have in quite a while. Some are common, others that just spoke to me so I had to get them.
Another was a type I've wanted to add to my collection that just seemed right.

But one out of the bunch was one I've been looking for for quite some time. It just so happened to be in one of JA's auctions. Go figure huh?

This coin has eluded me time & again. It's not so much the coin, it's "rare" but not that rare but the condition. Usually I find them so corroded that it's barely recognizable. This particular coin is not only recognizable but it's in pretty good condition. The best part is it cost less than the fugly ones I've seen.

The reason I wanted one so bad is a goofy but personal one. It reminds me of someone that is close to my heart.
I'm thrilled to have found one in this condition and even more so to get it at the price I did. I can now mark this one off my want list.

    What's to critique? It's a nice coin.

Critique was probably a bad choice for word. Comment is more suited.
    Thanks Sallent

It wasn't a bad choice. Critique does mean to analyze or evaluate, but it is also related to criticism (which is not necessarily negative, but is often used by people as such).

    Isn't English a fun language?

Let me ask you a question, does the patina have a hint of blue? At least it seems like it from the pics.

    Hint of blue/green.
Couldn't get the lighting right to capture the color. Charging battery for camera & at this time don't have a way to download from it anyway. Can usually get better looking pics with phone, just not today

The word Critique has an interesting background. The word "critique" is from middle French. It is of course related to Criticus in Latin and Kritikos in Greek. All three refer to the idea of passing judgement. Today many people believe this is synonymous with "bad mouthing", but that was not the original intent.

I remember way back when I was in school, I took different art classes. I always hated at the end of the projects we had to show our pieces in front of the class everyone got a chance to "critique" each other's piece.
"Bad mouthing" seems more like it looking back on it.
But that's hardly what I meant in the OP. Comments & sharing more like it.
