This is the Capped Bust quarter that received today.
    1833 Browning 1 PCGS VF-35.
The images are a bit large so you can see the "ugly" characteristics.

Look around the coin, particularly on the obverse.
All those "pimples" in the field in various places are due to die rust.

Originally I thought this was a very ugly coin.
But then I read Tompkins more closely and found it's a late die state, most likely Die State 4, the last one.
That's when I went ahead and bought it.

I still think it's an ugly coin but I now know it's NOT a problem coin.

Cool coin. Says a lot about physical conditions at the Old Mint, and the need to eke out as many strikes as possible from the dies before they fell apart. A real piece of history.

Outside of higher grade and toned coins, nothing tickles my fancy more than a good old crusty circulated coin. I like it!

It certainly has a lot of character. What's not to like...

Thanks for all of the positive comments.
It fills one of the holes in my Capped Bust/Reduced Size Quarters die variety set (1831-1838).
That's 25 out of 36 with 2 more awaiting variety confirmation.

Nice coin! The rusty dies give it character and the color looks appealing in my book. Cool clashes below Liberty's ear too.

    Thanks.
According to pics that I've seen the clash is much stronger on Die State 3.
The Mint did some die polishing to remove rust "blips" and eliminated some of the die clash before Die State 4.

Beauty is in the "eye" of the coin holder.
