s-l500 (1).jpg s-l500.jpg I am currently viewing a 1922 weak 'D" strong reverse in "red" and in Choice BU mint state on Ebay by a reputable seller. I have a hard time believing it is a true red. Given if it is a ms63 that would put the value at 43,000 dollars according to PCGS . They don't even list a price in "red" below a 63.

Would anyone else agree that the coi's color must have been altered?

    I would appreciate any feedback.

    Thank you~

I'd be careful with that one personally.

First off, you are pricing the wrong coin. That is NOT a strong reverse and that is the only price given on PCGS (or NGC). That is die #1 weak reverse. An MS63 RD weak reverse runs about $2500 to $5000 on Heritage.

Next problem is it appears that someone has messed with the area of the MM.

Next problem is that is Great Southern Coins. If you look them up here, you will find they are noted for buying problem slabs, breaking out the coins and selling them.

On the plus side, they do have 30 return policy and I bet they honor it.

All in all, I would not touch that with a 50' pole!

Yeah questionable seller. Their pics are always better than the coin. In hand I guarantee that coin is brown. Also not a die pair number 2. This would be considered a weak D coin.

    What they said ^^^

Why anyone even looks at GSC coins, let alone raw ones is beyond me

Thank you for the feedback. I heard form another source that GSC coins are dangerous. Many the color is altered or cleaned. I agree this has to be a brown. Evan 8.. doesn't a die pair 2 have a strong reverse, meaning all wheat lines showing? A die pair 2 has strong letters in trust. This coin has that which is confusing. Another confusing factor is that the L is supposed to but against the rim in die pair 2. It could not be a die pair #1 since the "trust" is so strong correct?

Great information rlm! I wasn't going to touch this coin, but I wanted some good feedback. I found here with all of the insight from the three of you. Do you recommend a trusted seller for raw/ slabbed coins?

    Thank you again!

    See http://lincolncentresource.com/1922Ddievarieties.html

But that is die pair #1. See that crack at the O in ONE? If you look closely, it is the T r U s T specified.

    Here is another #1

Coin appears cleaned. If it was red, it would be in a slab that said red.
It's possible the D was scrubbed off. The veracity of this seller is not
    worth buying any key date.

You buy a 22 - make sure it is slabbed!

I may be mistaking, but if you zoom in to where the mint mark would have been it looks like it was removed.

As others have said, this seller has a reputation of making coin photos look better than in hand.

Color does look funny. My impression is cleaned and recolored. Also, what everybody else has said about GSC.

Funny thing is the zoom feature isn't available on the GSC auctions, the only way I was able to zoom in was when I was looking on Ebay from my phone, then it was the phone itself zooming in. Stay away from GSC. They blocked me when I called out their practices on FB.
