    There are so many beautifully toned Columbus commems, I have always wanted one but it seems they never come up for sale.

    No... Columbus Day. If another day is needed to celebrate the indigenous, that's fine and certainly fair. That said, if we're going to view Columbus through modern eyes, we must to the same for the indigenous lest we by hypocrites.

    "In 1656, after one of the most relentless and destructive Indian wars, the Erie were almost exterminated by the Iroquois. The surviving captives were either adopted or enslaved". Just one example, but there are many, many others as well.

    Unfortunately, the mistreatment of others, and in particular those who are somehow different, is a regrettable part of the human condition and not something afflicting only those of European origin.
