I have a group of coins at ICG. I'm really happy that they would even work on them. Most were in old PCI problem coin holders. The red label ones. The coins had turned really nasty looking over the years. They were so bad that no one would even want them.
When I looked at what PCGS or NGC would charge, I gave up on using them.
Insider was kind enough to take them in and see if any of the coins could be saved or improved. I'm not sure any of the coins will ever straight grade but it is worth it to me to do what I can for the coins.
    Thank you Insider.

Sir, kindly take your argument elsewhere. I’d prefer we keep this thread a little more positive and on topic. Thank you.

Quite right! I just might have to sell the 1918-S to cover fees and get a bit of profit. I have some thinking to do. Luckily, there’s no rush. :)

Do you have any more info on the coins? Any before photos? Would love to see them :)

Lol. Slander and political inuendo no problem. A stern rebuke for violating the rules of this site? Unacceptable.
Guess his highjacking your thread is more to your liking. I don't argue with people on the internet but nor will
i tolerate a new member taking liberties. Feel free to check my postings. i come here for coin discussion as my past shows. James

Please stop. Start your own thread. It's clear you are only here to argue.

Oh, I didn't seriously think that you'd actually consider parting with any of them...! (But if you can bear to consider it, yeah, you're sitting pretty, value-vs-price-paid-wise.)

I took before images but there's not much to see. They are so covered in black looking junk, the images are really poor.

I am with @Seattlite86 and I too would like to see what ICG was able to do for you. I have submitted twice now to ICG and both times received a call from him detailing the good and the bad on my submissions. Couldn’t ask for more for ten bucks a pop.

Jeff, if either coin were a 1913 s type 2, we could both go with him. Type one would be one way, one ticket! Lol

I have a Valerian 'silver' Antoninianus which has cherry red spots, presumably from PVC (although nothing much happened to any of the other coins). I don't want it slabbed, but it has sentimental value (one of my first coins). I wonder if they could do anything?

Post photos of it in ancients and tag Insider. I’m sure between him and the others, you’ll get a solid answer.

Related question - when you submit coins to ICG, should they email (or otherwise notify) you to let you know it was received? The FAQ says to call or email them but I would have thought a courtesy email saying they were received would be sent.
I submitted some coins (based on the great feedback on this thread) and the USPS marked them delivered on 6/10.

I received a notification email that my coins were received and I was assigned a customer number. The email subject was “Submission Received” from someone @ icgcoin.com. My recommendation is to check your junk email. If still nothing, shoot them an email. There’s a chance your email was mistyped on your end or theirs. They’ve replied to every email I sent them within 24hours.

I got confirmation notices from PCGS and calls from ICG when I sent my coins in.

Nothing in junk folder. I'll shoot them an email later.

There is a young lady down there that was responding to my emails in 10-15 minutes. Super helpful lady….. I’m not tech smart enough to look up her name on my phone but I can PM her name and email address to anyone that wants it tomorrow when I am at my computer.

It's my understanding that ICG got hammered with submissions and they are working hard to catch up.

Good for them! They can hire people to grade the coins we send them.
