Today I bought a very interesting artefact from fellow metal detectorist, and in my opinion this is an early depiction of St. George, X-XII century...I believe that the pilgrims to the Holy Land sewed this appliqué on their clothes... If anyone has any thoughts or additional information on this or a similar artefact, I would greatly appreciate it... 55 mm/2.16 inches and 20grams...
This is one of those items that makes me feel like I can just reach out and touch the history. Super cool acquisition.
I searched the image with google, came up with a couple of similar looking things. But nothing identical. https://x.com/NyBjornG/status/1755902327238586411 https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pion_de_trictrac_-_Musée_de_Mayenne_(5).jpg
