Cool way to display my type set and eventually other coins online

**** IF you saw this in the Friends of The Coin Show" FB group today I apologize in advance for the duplicate post.

So I spent a ridiculous amount of time coming up with a way to display, online, photos of my own collection including my albums.

For the album pages I wanted to be able to display an image of the album page, with a good clear thumbnail pic of each coin overlaid on the page image as if its sitting in the hole. This helps give context and also scale for each coin. I also wanted to be able to click on the thumbnail of each coin to get a bigger photo of the obverse and reverse side by side.

This is the first attempt. I have all the mechanics figured out, now its time to start taking good pics of all the coins.

Right now this is best viewed on non mobile devices. I have to figure out how to make it more mobile friendly. But since enjoying coin photos typically requires a good bit of real estate on a screen in order to show a decent pic, I figured that would come last. But if you're on a PC or a tablet I think this should work.

Very cool. Enjoying the collection without having the collection in front of you is always a challenge. Taking good photos is time-consuming. Creating a webpage that allows an overall view with enlarged views is a trick that's beyond what I can do.

I've used the PCGS registry Digital Albums to accomplish more-or-less the same thing, but seeing it in a Danso is more cool, I think.

Nice display. I have been thinking about starting the 7070 set also and you have inspired me to think harder. I understand that Dansco does not make the 7070 anymore but if I remember correctly, Intercept has the A-190. Is this the best option?

Great! To be honest, type collecting gets more an more interesting to me. I think its a great way to put a collection together that spans US coinage.

I have heard the same thing about the Dansco 7070. In fact, if you're going to do a Dansco, your first big purchase for the set will be the album. $60-90 bucks last time I checked. BUT, it does have some weaknesses as type sets go. The most recent type in the album is a hole for a Statehood quarter. No holes for the Jefferson Westward Journey series of 04 and 05, no holes for the 09 Lincoln Bicentennial series, no ATB quarters,no holes for presidential dollars, and it does leave out some very early types as well, albeit they are quite costly and that could be why.

That said, I think going with the Intercept album is a great choice, because it has updated pages for all the coins above that I mentioned, AND its less than $40 I believe.

I looked a the 7070 this morning and found a few for $90 and a few more for $150!! And yes, the Intercept is under $40. And nothing beats a good German Dopplebock!

Thank you for the work and effort you've put into your Dansco and especially for sharing it with us...it shows what can be done.

Just to make it clear, that is not my website. I have done several designs - just not a US type set yet as it seems I don't understand US coinage too well. This was one I've done at the start of the year - obviously criticized for being too unrealistic. But again, it's free style and the cost is zero other than my time.

It's only a matter of time when digital coin albums is the step forward. I've been doing this since 2008
