I kept these 2 items from my former seller who was doubtful. Still they may be genuine and scarce. The first seems to be a seal whereas the second metallic piece shows the facing bust of a woman. Any guess??
@Parthicus (The reply button and Quote button are not working...) Wrightsville Beach in NC. We love it as it is a quiet beach. Carolina Beach south of it is where all the University kids go to.
Ken, you get a +1 grade for your daughter's cat. My curio shelf has a few items: plumb bobs "authentic" native american ceramics a beach rock from the first time my wife & I saw the Pacific Ocean crystals from a mine in Arkansas civil war bullet from Mississippi a 1000 PSI rupture disc that made quite a boom when it burst ceramic oil lamps the spindle whorls from KD are not on this shelf and my favorite.... the wedding medal from my daughter's wedding!
I like your necklace. Did it come strung, or did you piece together the different shapes? I bought some ancient Iranian beads I gave to my daughter who likes to make jewelry.
@rrdenarius the necklace came strung. It was never big enough to get over my head lol, so it sat in a box. When my wife tried it on, it fit her so I guess it was meant to be Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
I would like to get some antiquities, but like others have mentioned I don't really have the budget for them and coins (and my other hobbies). I would really like to get some greek pottery, but it is quite expensive to buy pieces of sufficient quality (a whole vase, instead of just shards). I would also really like to get some Egyptian artifacts - but again, pieces of sufficient size/quality are very expensive. It's just not in my current budget.
I'm with you physics - I have some artifacts, but would really love a Greek amphora or other type of vase. Those things are pricey, though!
I don't collect antiquities because I frankly don't have a good place to put them yet. Many other collections have fizzled out for the same reason; I have no place to put them. Coins are small and easliy storable. They have won out.
That's the first time I acquire an ancient oil lamp which has a specific engraving. I'm totally new to this field. I can see someone on a horse. Many others were offered to me, but I chose that one. Please try to assist me in a comment if you happen to know.
I have a couple of stone points or blades. Next time I head down to my parent's houses in Kentucky I plan to look for some of the others I had as a kid. One of these days I'd like to add bronze and iron spear and arrow points to my collection as well. Stone point or blade, 19x85mm. Neolithic pre-pottery A-B civilizations, Levant or upper Mesopotamia, circa 8500-5500 BC. Ex Tom Cederlind estate Stone(coshocton chert?) point, Kirk corner notch type, early to middle archaic period, 7000-5000 BC. Found by my dad in a tobacco field in central KY in the 70s.
It is slightly more difficult to stumble-across legitimate antiques where I currently reside ... but if you have patience and you look hard enough, then eventually your efforts will pay-off => the elusive stubby-bottle
He knows it is a fantasy piece. He has been posting all sorts of modern crap here the past few days and trolling peoples' posts and making new accounts when he gets banned. Best thing you can do is hit the ignore button as soon as you see one of his posts.
