"Paging Dr. Verdicare! Dr. Verdicare to the E.R.!"

Is there anything to be done for our former president or is he too far gone?

Sorry for the blurry pics. I think you get the general idea, though.

No matter how much lipstick and makeup you put on a pig - it's still a pig.

Will Veri-Care remove some of that ? Yeah probably. Will it remove all of it ? Probably not. And even if you do remove it, whatever damage has already been done by the corrosion will still be there.

Call the ME, and get it buried after the autopsy

Trying to do something is better than doing nothing at all. At the very least, it may improve your doctoring skills. :)

I understand that the patient is beyond cure, but I at least want him to look good in the casket ;-)

So... Verdicare would be the only way to go? Since it's not a particularly valuable coin, are there any "home-brew" solutions?

It would be a good chance for me to practice... I think I owe that to a 105-year-old patient...

I'd start by poking it with a stick. Some of that green gunk might pop off the coin with a rose thorn. Once you finish your medical experiments, release it back into circulation and let someone else get a 105-year-old coin in change.

Fixation in cold, neutral, buffered formalin; embed in paraffin; 5 micron sections and H&E stain for histopath. Better have a sharp blade in the microtome.

If you got the VerdiCare, use it, if not, try using a solution of 50% bicarbonate of soda and 50% washing soda (sodium carbonate), soak, gently massage and rinse.

Believe it or not, one of the best removal methods for coins like this is hot, running water and your fingers. Go work it over and post the after pictures.
