1st box open.. giving the reveal it's own thread.. I happy.. not running around the room screaming happy but happy lol
ok posting this here.. the 140.2gr package contained a morgan dollar... so what on the list from vaultbox weighs 4.5 grams more then a silver dollar, let's call it a range of 30-32grams... the answer is scaring me... but I WILL wait for tomorrow to open the next box lol (the answer i'm finding leads me to think gold panda/dbl eagle even possible the platnum $50s weighing in at 32.5... I'm happy now but thinking I may be Very happy tomorrow lol
Me thinks @David Betts ’s number for empty box cannot possibly be accurate. Not with the weight that @mrweaseluv showed for his Morgan pull. Also, the wife drug out her food scale which was accurate to my 100 gram calibration weight. Here’s my two boxes: Uggh, now I’m driving myself insane…..red book out trying to figure out what I’ve got in these darn boxes! Do me a favor if you would, @mrweaseluv , weigh your empty box and then the slabbed Morgan.
ok here you go... plastic wrap 1gr (no pic) empty box 76.6 slabbed morgan 62.6 for a total of 140.2 grams
an added thought... that's for the "black" core.. red core might have a slightly higher or lower weight (not likely but it is possible)
Thank you, @mrweaseluv ! With my calculations based on this info, the two pieces I have are: 15.53 grams and 19.53 grams Back to the coin resources I go!
Uggggh!!!! Evil math... other box is 143.2... minus weight of empty box..76.6.. leaves me with the other slab weighing in at 66.6 grams hehehe
I thought of that as well, or if they put an extra card in with one. I’m having fun just trying to figure it out. I’ve already gotten my money’s worth out of this and the plastic is still on the boxes!
The boy ended up coming home last night and they’ll come over to drop their dogs off before they head to the Twin Cities. We’ll be doing reveals today! Good thing, because I’m driving Catherine nuts!
Living in Maine mine are being delivered by Moose drawn wagon! And Moose don't play well with others! Today Sat. if my last chance to receive before weekend!
Revel the 127 yielded this and instant offer coin two is going to flea bay as I did with series 3 should have no problem breaking or making a few $ and had a blast! Good luck Buffalo boyz!
I don't understand what all this weighing minutia does for you when you're just going to open it anyway.
It’s all in good fun. I know that it’s almost impossible to garner any useful information when you’re dealing in grams. The plastic wrap weighing a gram, the insert card weighing three grams, etc. For me, it just added to the anticipation and fun before the opening.
Okay, here we go. The boy came over and we had a blast! I had him open the first box. Ohhhh boy, you got yourself a red core!! He slid the card off with me standing there looking over his shoulder, and revealed this nice CBH…. My turn next. I slide the card over to reveal the black core. I made the ghost eating Pac-Man noise and we all had a good laugh. I’m happy with this one, too. I have a dozen or so early commemoratives and not this one, so it will be a nice addition to the set. Anybody know if these NGCx coins slide into the registry? I’m assuming they will. All in all, this was a pleasant experience and I think I would do it again. Providing it’s a single box series like this one was and the “booty” list is similar to what this series displayed.
It's getting information out there for people who don't plan to open their boxes. Someone somewhere is surely building a database of weights and revealed coin types.
To me that implies that you predict that the box lost you money so you market it like an "unsearched roll" type thing. I can't think of another reason why you would plan to not open it. But the psychology of all this escapes me. Like Vegas, the house always wins.
