My husband brought this quarter home today. Tried to get the best photos. Is this missing clad or just down right deteriorated quarter? Thanks!
If it was missing a clad layer, weight would be 20% less than normal. Waiting for weight but 99.99999999999% sure it’s normal
If it was missing clad, it would be copper across the entire side. Both sides show silvery colored bits. This is just extreme environmental damage. Worth 25 cents if CoinStar will take it.
most clad coins/Cu-Ni/copper coins get dark after being in the ground for an extended period of time. here is a picture of some coins I found with my metal detector next to some normal coins. All dark.
