Very nice. I really enjoy a nice old copper with minting damage. Have not seen this coin before. How do you determine value added to such a coin?
To be honest, I don't really know how that works. I didn't buy the coin to sell it (Not that there's anything wrong with that lol). I bought it because I collect world coins and that was a blank spot that needed filling lol. I'd love to hear what others have to say about that question. How does one decide on a value for an error? I've found a Lincoln Center that an off center strike, maybe 10-20%, but I could not tell you what the error adds to the value. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
Red book gives some info on errors, in a range with %'s, but alot of things fall outside of that. Must be personal preferance after that.
Not a "partial die clip", an incomplete blanking punch or incomplete clip. Has nothing to do with the die. The blanking punch did not completely penetrate the strip, then the strip was reset and the punches overlapped the previous partial punches.
As far as I can tell from the pictures Fred posted, the damage to this coin was made after it was die stuck. Conder101 says the damage was done post strike, in the blanking production stage. (scratches head).
To me, if it were an actual "partial clip" it would not show damage to the rim after the coin was struck. I think it's PMD! Chris
