I can’t recall if I ever posted this to this thread or not. (Apologies if this is a repeat.) I was very happy with the grade it received at NGC, particularly since I had not had the best luck when submitting hammered gold to the TPGs in the past. German States (Frankfurt): 1495 goldgulden of Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor
Thanks tibor 3.44g. 28mm. .958 I would question Philip III dubbed nickname "the Handsome" Charles "the Bold" was more apt. to that title.
Merely out of curiosity what is the approximate price range for these aachens? I guess they appear in mostly European auctions.
Thank you, my favourite Islamic Dinar is this Ayyubid Gold Dinar of Saladin from 1184 (minted in Cairo):
@Gallienus Thanks for asking. These groschen from Aachen can run from $6000- $10,000 for the 1374 and 1375. Depends upon condition. The 1402-1405 $2,000-$5,000.The 1404 around a $1,000. Here again condition is important. 1411 and1412, $500 -$1,000. 1418 is a rare bird, only 3 appearances in the last 40 years. 1419-1422 $200-$500 each. Auction appearances for most of these are 1-2 per year for the cheaper ones. If your buying one make sure that the date is strong and clear.
