Mercury 1942/1?

    I found this when I was a kid but it wasn't until I really started collecting and had bought a digital microscope that I saw this. The date has some doubling but I'm wondering if this is a 1942/1. Opinions? [​IMG]

    Nope, not even close. You just have a little machine doubling is what it looks like. The last digit in the 42/1 looks almost like a capital R. It's one of the most dramatic overdates in US coinage, period. 42/1 D is a little more subtle.

    Don't confuse him.

    It is machine doubling. This is very common, and has no premium.
