Well the more you look the more you find! This seller is offering a nice 2021d Ms 70 at a low opening bid amount. The seller uses images of a coin in its slab with full information to see. In several of the additional images, it seems as if something is being blocked or hidden! My opinion! Is this seller trying to sell a stolen coin? Who inks out numbers on a slab? In the words of one wise old man, Not even IMG_2732.jpeg IMG_2731.jpeg IMG_2733.jpeg with wife’s credit card! Lol

I don't believe it is the NGC certified coin, which is flawless. The above coin seems to have dings before the L and after the B in PLURIBUS. But why would someone show the number in one photo and hide it in later ones, as is obviously the case?

Which site has the coin listed that you are referring about?
The Bar codes appear to be the same ( The last portion that is more accurate).
    I don't see a real problem.

ebay! The way it’s presented on the sellers page is just a little questionable! Not that the sale isn’t on the up and up but selling stolen items on eBay isn’t unheard of. Btw, the seller has zero sales to add to the possible bad situation! Knowing this and how some of the crooks working on evil bay do take advantage of ppl, I see a can of worms. Great if you’re going fishing!

Neal, I didn’t look at the coin closely but the way NGC and PCGS are pumping these ms70s out, the blemishes and flaws are becoming more common.

I think EBay does provide a great policy. If you buy a coin and feel it is a fake, or not what was advertised ( I have a couple of times ) i had 30 days to enter a complaint and ask for a reversal, and each time , it was done. One was from China
and when tested with a XRF was not the gold content claimed, so Ebay credited to my acoount when the postal system said it was delivered to the seller. I respect that they can't take anyone's word that it was fake.
However, Ebay is not a grader, so they can't look at each submitted before deciding on its owner writing it up. This site have people who can help with grading,
evaluations, etc. when asked. I have no financial interest with eBay besides buying personally, but I don't worry I will get screwed like ETSY and others. IMO, Best luck! Jim

@Dan Galbato any chance you can give us the link to the auction? Looking at those pics I think you might be attributing to malice what can more easily be explained by incompetence.... or in this case inexperience. @desertgem is right, the barcode matches across all the pictures.

Jim, nobody should have to put up with the stuff that goes on at times. Life is to short. eBay did a better job policing sales years ago. Today it’s put the blinders on and keep the money
    moving.

cwart, the only thing im attributing to is making some aware of the sellers who would steal your first communion money if they had the chance! Had I given the sellers name in the start, which I didn’t, then your malice claim might hold water but that’s not what happened. Was the seller new? Did his slab have inked out reg numbers? Did the sale look shady to me? Yes! As for the actual listing, it’s been pulled? Go figure!
The barcode looks ok? What does that have to do with a possible bogus sale?

Dan, don't forget there are 2 sides, the buyer and the seller. Probably the seller removed it. None of us likely always knows the good from the bad whether it is coins , friends, or even religions. I would never buy that coin myself, I don't care for
modern crud, but some like that type material. I do not know why the Owner close to mask data on it, nor did I care as I did not want to own it. Best wishes. Jim

I still don't get how its a bogus listing. You are assuming the guy was up to something shady. Why? The entire NGC number is in at least one pic. The barcode from that pic is the same one in every other pic. Does the cert number check out with the coin in question? I think you misunderstood my point as well. I wasn't saying it was malice on your part. You were and are accusing the seller of malice. My point is that there was a seller with 0 sales, wouldn't inexperience also explain what was going on in that listing? I started selling with 0 sales at ebay as does every single person who sells there. Heck, if I went back to selling there I would still have maybe 10 or so sales to my history.

One last point, you never provided the ID of the seller in this case. How do we all avoid him if we have not the foggiest clue who he is?

/1/ Just because the auction starts low doesn't mean it will end there

/2/ Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

People often block the certification number when they post coins to avoid counterfeiters using the number.

my intention was question and possibly help point out to others what appears to have been a shady transaction. For all I know, some kid could have been trying to sell his father’s coin without dad knowing?
. I too started selling on eBay with zero sales but didn’t start with an item with as many questionable faults. Inexperience was certainly on display but innocence missed the bus.

good point! Maybe if this seller blocked it out completely, in all of the images, I would agree with you. My thought is some dumb kid didn’t want someone knowing they were trying to sell something that wasn’t theirs to sell.
