I dropped the ball by not handling this request. I was not BS any one about this 1943 steel bronze Lincoln penny. Whether it is fake I can not answer that question. I have not had it authenticated and do not intend to have it done. . To puy this to bed I will hopefully find a way to have a picture put on CT. For those that are making the outvote the way comments Edit - Forum Rules. I will be very frank about it.

I certainly can't blame you for feeling this way, John, but do hope you realize most (short the obvious) were simply trying to help.

If you still wish to post a photo....

At the bottom of the page where one would normally type their post/reply, there's an "upload a file" button which will allow you to choose whatever folder your photos are in and then to upload them to the forum. There's also a "more options" button which takes you to a dedicated response page and is sometimes easier to use. If you have any trouble, please, just ask and I'm sure someone will be happy to assist.

To Planman2014 you are a joke. You think you are so funny making your stupid comments. I am 82 years old and I have had several dealings with stupid people. I just write them off as ignorant. IMG_1915.JPG

Looks like the silver color is coming thru the copper plating along the rims. Have you bothered to have the piece weighed in grams?

I like your idea the best. Don't have it checked out and leave it to your family and you will have a valuable coin for as long as you are alive! ;)

Thanks for all, the pleasant individuals on Coin Talk. I am sorry I even mentioned any thing about my 1943 bronze steel Penny. I can not say I enjoyed my time on here and will no longer visit this site. After many many years of coin collecting I have NEVER been offended like i have on Coin Talk. May each of you be successful where ever your trails may lead.

    Jon,

Sorry you feel this way. On any online collectors forum you are going to find people that go against what you believe. You have to realize that some are doing it just to troll, some are doing it because they are either immature or uneducated, and some do it because they truly believe what they are saying and may have the education on the subject to back up their claim. When you put something out there, you have to be willing to take all of these comments, filter them, and take what is meaningful to you. If you cannot do that in a constructive way, an online forum might not be the place for you.

Many members do not post threads of their own and use the forum as a learning tool based on other member threads. They building a reputation interacting and demonstrating what level of knowledge and online presence they have. For some this is their way of dealing with conflicting views and people that do not have the best approach to interacting online.

    Best Wishes

    Darryl

I apologize if I said anything to upset you. The part that bothers me the most is that you kept referring to the coin as a Bronze Steel Cent. It's either one or the other. When you said it sticks to a magnet then it is Steel obviously.
    Take care :(

This alone tells you the coin has very little value. You want to find a 1943 that will not stick to the magnet.

Jon, you have to realize that regardless of the rarity of a true 1943 bronze cent, at one time, there was no restrictions for ads like the one below in a popular 1960s coin magazine ( arguably the most popular of its time ) and hundreds if not thousands of collectors ordered these to fill a hole in some coin boards. None of the real cents were attracted to a magnet magnetic. It specified your cent to avoid legal problems, Jim

Exactly as I have posted previously. The 43-S is a copper plated normal steel cent. The 44 is a normal copper cent plated likely with zinc.

Excuse me for intruding but didnt the experimental cents of 42,43. Include copper and brass platting

What do you mean by experimental? All 1942 Cents were copper and 1943 were Zinc plated Steel Cents.
There were some experimental planchets that were only used to determine which 1943 Cent to mint but did not end up into circulation, only documented.

No copper or brass plating for 1943.. the reason they went for Steel is that they were avoiding copper to be used instead for the war effort at that time.
