Assuming you're not in Puerto Rico?

Ebay standard envelope tracking is spotty - there's fewer scans. But typically it makes it's way more or less to the destination in a straight line.

I'm guessing it is because PR is a Frontier Hub, with flights to Midwest, faster and cheaper. Originating from FL. on an Easter weekend, had something to do with it, and the Tampa Hub for SW, American and United were curtailed from the 2nd to the 5th.
That may have had an impact, I don't know.

I do know I used to get packages delivered frequently from Tampa, and the majority routed thru PR. I am sure Wampum is involved, coupled with incompetence, error, and just not giving a damn.

Anyway, who wants to live in the Midwest, Huh? It is your fault.....

As a seller who uses it all the time, I hate eBay's tracking. My understanding is that it somehow updates automatically as it moves through different parts of the USPS system. They don't actually scan it and if you try to check tracking on their site, they have no idea what it is. It also often reports items as delivered a day or more before they actually arrive, which leads to me getting several messages a month from people saying that tracking says their item arrived but they don't have it. Then I have to explain how all this works and hope it shows up. So why do I use it? It includes free insurance and it helps you qualify to be a top-rated seller. That's the big benefits of it.

As to why your letter is in Puerto Rico, God only knows. Hopefully it gets where it's going eventually.

And it's cheap and allows you to make a [little] profit selling cheap coins.
Plus free insurance and print from home labels.
    It's easy and cheap.

I've had packages go all over before arriving to me. The last one was coming from Albuquerque, NM. I live in Northern Colorado. The package went past me all the way to Billings, MT. Then back through Cheyenne before being delivered to me. Literally took two day longer than necessary.

I had a pkg from MA to TX go through PR for a while. Had to wait nearly a week extra for it to get here.

A few years ago I mailed a package to a CT member in South Carolina from California. For some reason it ended up in Anchorage, Alaska before heading back to the lower 48.

I had a buyer in CA purchase a coin on 3/19/2024; I shipped the coin on 3/20/2024 via an eBay standard envelope as the coin cost less than $20 ($18 exactly). On 3/25/2024 the buyer sends me a nastygram accusing me of waiting 5 days to mail his coin. When I checked the tracking, I assured him that I sent the coin within 24 hours but in 5 days it had only made it from my house in the Philly suburbs to the USPS Philadelphia processing center. I asked him to be patient as it can take the USPS up to a month to deliver a package.

After 10 days, he filed a complaint with eBay stating that he didn't receive the package. My only recourse was to stall and do nothing and simply not respond to the complaint. After the 5 day waiting period was over, he asked eBay to step in. Ebay's resolution was to delay judgement until 4/15/2024 since evidence showed that I did in fact mail the package.

Today, the package was scanned in CA. As long as the package gets delivered by Monday, they should rule in my favor. This is gonna be close.

I really can't even be angry with the buyer, after all, it has been 3 weeks since he purchased the coin. This is the second coin in two months that has taken 3-4 weeks to get to its destination, both using the eBay standard envelope.

It will probably come back to you in a few weeks marked undeliverable. This happens to me about once a month and I've never figured it out. Usually if you send it again it works fine. Of course you have to pay for postage again.

If I were you I probably would have given him the refund and claimed the insurance. You know he's going to leave you negative feedback.

I've had it happen a few times with eBay standard envelope. But in each case, the buyer was reasonable after I explained how these are spotty, and it always showed up eventually.

It got delivered today, and the buyer closed the case in the eBay system. He has not left feedback yet, but I am not sure why he would leave negative feedback when I cautioned him that it can take up to a month.

I don't know what insurance you are talking about, the eBay standard envelope is basically the cost of a stamp and does not have insurance as far as I know.

I have only had this happen 3 times, and all 3 times the buyer was a complete tool, refused to listen to my plea for patience, and filed a claim with eBay. I have won 2 outta 3. The 2nd time was last month. The guy bought two different coins within a 3 day period, claimed after a week that he hadn't gotten either one. After he got the second coin and confirmed it with me in an eBay message, he filed a claim that he hadn't received either coin. At the end of the 5 day waiting period, the second coin was delivered, so what does he do? He contacts eBay and asks them to resolve the complaint even though the coin was delivered and sent me a message calling me a crook because the coin wasn't full steps according to him. I told him to send the coin back and I will refund him. Ebay refunds him his money at their expense because there was evidence that the coin was delivered but the buyer still claimed he didn't get it.

Once the buyer got the refund from eBay, he contacted me all nicey nice and told me he got my refund and will gladly return the coin. He then proceeded to take 2 weeks to drop it in the mail, I assume out of some sort of revenge for how long he had to wait. When I finally got the envelope, I opened it to find that he had returned the wrong coin. He now resides on my blocked bidder list.

I just assumed he'll leave you negative feedback because he's been fighting with you over it. Usually if someone opens a case and eBay has to step in I don't expect them to give me good feedback even if it's not my fault. I had one buyer in Canada who demanded I refund all his money for a $100 order just because it was taking so long even though tracking was still updating. After he opened his case and lost it, he left me negatives on every coin in the order (something like 10-12). Fortunately I contacted eBay and they removed them because the feedback was about delivery time and I used the eBay international delivery service.

If you don't know about the insurance with the eBay standard envelope then you're missing the best part of it. All orders sent this way have automatic free insurance included. If you have to send a refund because it doesn't show up, you just have to wait a month and then fill out the form. I've never had a claim denied even if tracking shows it delivered. You just need a message from the buyer saying they didn't receive it. This is the form for it: https://www.pip-claim.com/PIPClaim/eBayIntClaim/CreateeBayClaim

I was completely unaware of that, thank you very much. I am assuming they don't care because the price is limited to $20 for single items, and $50 for multiple. They probably have stats on the number of items that get lost and factor those losses in.
