Has anyone obtained or planning on obtaining these 2024 Greatest Generation coins? If anyone remembers my "Coin Show" I had at our house one of the displays was a "Coins Affected by World War II and World War II Commemorative Coins." I did purchase four coins the clad half dollar and silver dollar in proof and uncirculated. I think they will look great added to this display, and I do think they are good looking coins. I felt like I just had to have them, but I think they are overpriced and come with a high mintage. I'm not planning on selling them anyway, but I don't think they are going to be as popular as expected by the mint. Will be leaving them in OGP for the display which I will have to build again so they can be added. That is a real pain I don't want to do it yet, I'll wait until later when it is 200 degrees in my garage.
I'm in for the series. I think the designs are beautiful. Unfortunately, not too many like 'moderns' and especially commems. Too bad for them as I think modern commems will catch fire down the road, and these are gonna be low mintage pieces......
I've been betting on the low mintage idea on the Unc dollars. The mintages have been incredibly low. The 2022 Negro League dollar currently holds the record for low mintage at 8,444 coins. So far this years Unc dollars are at 6,049 for Harriet Tubman, and 8,121 for the Greatest Generation. With 8 more months to go I would expect The Greatest Generation to beat the Negro League, but Harriet may be a new low.
Isn't that the best time to work on a project, Hope you are doing well, would love to see the display when you are done.
I will post it when it is done. I'm in the process of setting-up getting the house painted and a couple of small repairs. i did all of this myself 8 to 10 years ago, but those days are long gone. What a price range on the the painting $3600.00 to $7200.00.
I bought one for my Dansco 7070. My parents and their siblings were part of the Greatest Generation. Kind of a way to honor them.
I will definitely add some of these to my collection. My grandfather fought in WW2 in the Army Corps or engineers. He was active in many aspects of the war building the infrastructure to get the troops through and fighting through out the war, including the battle of the bulge. Liberating a Nazi concentration camp. It's a small piece of my collection but very important to me.
