Very cool piece. I am assuming you have a decent translation? Google chokes on Latin. I also note a sub-message in the overall message - the enlarged letters indicate something in addition to the main theme. Please elucidate . . . . awaiting with magna exspectatio . . . . . . Z
This is funny. I just tried google translate on this and it produced: HOW HAPPY I WILL BE ABOUT VIREBAM I squealed SO THE GLORY ALL IS NOT EXCEPT PROVIDENCE AND VEGETABLE COUNCIL That on it's own qualifies for this thread. I don't have a translation but it is a commemorative thaler minted on the death of August II.
I am at work and don't have the time to chase this down, but there is a secondary message encoded in this piece. The difference in size of the letters is not by accident. Put together in the proper sequence, they spell out another message. Most I have seen, when put together, are Roman numerals indicating a date. This one is different. I am now compelled to do some research to figure this piece out. Somehow, if you assemble the letters I highlighted in yellow below, there is a secret / alternate message. Get out your decoder rings boys . . . . ! Z
A "vampire note" issued during Germany's hyperinflation period in the 1920s. It was subtle comment on what the Treaty of Versailles was doing to the country.
