If I were to buy this coin, what do you think I should be willing to pay for it? I've never purchased a gold coin as of yet, and I certainly don't want to overpay for my first one, if possible. From a LCS that I wholly trust, but I just thought I'd check in here before pulling the trigger and dropping $400+.

As always, thanks for any advice! 20240315_113018.jpg 20240315_112957.jpg

It's as gold-colored as you would imagine. My phone adjusted the color so it looks pale. The background is a small manilla envelope, for a color reference. I have no doubts that it's 100% authentic.

$400-450, at least on coinfacts recently showing auctions for AU50. I honestly don't know much when it comes to gold coinage, so I'm at the mercy of my shop owner (who typically gives me a nice discount for being a regular) and going in solely on advice.

I can swing by and take much better pictures if needed, but I'd rather avoid setting up stuff like that in his shop if possible! He's really a stand-up guy and very upfront with his opinions on coins and typically prices accordingly.

That’s the price for a 1914-D $2.50 Gold Indian. Not a bargain but not overpriced either.

$450.00 or less I would pull the trigger.

The price range you quoted is accurate. That said, if you like it take it home. My opinion, the best designed coin ever produced by the United States mint. The incuse design is stunning in hand.
