The "2" of the 25¢ was definitely struck into the die twice.

This is what a "doubled die" should look like.

Okay, so if I Die twice then that's Doubled Die? Okay, not so funny. How about it being a Tu Tu? lol.gif

    No :bored:

True doubled die varieties have absolutely nothing at all to do with a coin being struck twice. It's a doubled die because of hub doubling to create the die itself.

That's not a doubled die variety.

    Sorry :wideyed:

That is exactly what this is. The 2 was impressed into the die offset, then repunched. Every token has this doubling that i have seen. I believe it to be in the die, not a double struck planchet.

It's a Patrick Mint token. Most of his early specialized dies exhibit individually punched letters. I believe the value was struck into the die twice with the 2 getting the bulk of the offset. I can post photos of the whole token in the morrow . . .

I read your first post incorrectly. I thought you had stated that it was struck onto the coin twice :wacky:
Hence my response. I had a long rough day at work yesterday.

Can you post full pictures of both sides.
I can't find it in Numista.

    Interesting

    Better photos than the compressed JPG's on Token Catalog . . . . .

Not that it matters but I am still pondering the issue. Is this token a doubled die or a RPV (Repunched Value) After-all RPMs and RPDs are not classified as doubled dies.
