Nope, die deterioration doubling and maybe a little MD as well. You need a magnified image to even see it.
I can see what can be seen in the first picture with the naked eye which is what led me to taking pictures to ask, when you say MD do you mean PMD? Or mint doubling? And thank you for the response! I wasn’t sure
Tons of hairlines which appears the coin has been cleaned also causing distortion but its still silver and (MD) stands for machine doubling.
Do a good comparison check before you discount it as DDD or MD. At lest you can learn from your coin by checking. I think the N of in and the first T of trust look fat. The date looks fat to. http://www.varietyvista.com/09a WQ Vol 1/DDOs 1943-S.htm
It's best to go through all of the info from Wexler. MD is machine or mechanical doubling, caused by the die being loose in the holder. Here is a great paper on doublings or not, but go to the bottom and get into the meat of all of Wexler's work on errors/varieties by following links. https://doubleddie.com/144801.html
I can't tell anything from those photos. There are 22 DDO's for 43S. Take a look and see if you have found anything. http://varietyvista.com/09a WQ Vol 1/DDOs 1943-S.htm
I don't think you are understanding Doubled dies very well. Doubled dies are identified by class. None of them are just related to one part of the coin but by the shift rotation or offset during the reduction of either the master die or in the making of the working die. You can find the different class's in the link. I would suggest you read it a couple of times. https://doubleddie.com/58222.html
The only one that’s in the Red Book is the date. To me that means any other varieties are very minor.
As the main doubled die coins such as the 1955/55 and 1972/72 Lincolns became desired to most collectors, but the cost was very high, and the concept of die deterioration doubling was not yet well conceived, die deterioration coins were well available and inexpensive, so they appeared in listings as true doubled die coins. I have high respect to Wexler and others for their work, but my opinion is that they went overboard and so many DD listings that are really DDD are in their work and have been around for so long, they possibly will never be removed or listings changed. IMO, as I am sure others may differ. Jim
