Hello Friends, I have sent an e-mail to CNG about some coins to consign. But how long does it take before the respond? One year ago I did the same the replied after a couple of months...I almost forgot about it. What is your experience with them? should I call? or use diffent e-mail address? Thanks for letting me know, The king of Tets.
Try Agora Auctions then. If CNG is happy to ignore you for months, find someone that genuinely wants your business and won't treat you like a pesky inconvenience
I sent pics to Ardatirion and it only took about 30 seconds for him to tell me they didnt make the CNG quality cut.
I don't know why CNG hasn't replied but if the coins you're wanting to sell are the same ones you've been showing (provincial tetradrachms, lower grade), CNG may not have the right customer base for your coins. (Edited to add that JBGood addressed this point while I was typing) You might be better off consigning to Agora. http://www.agoraauctions.com/8 Agora appears to charge a significantly lower seller's fee and their coins are often lower grade than the typical CNG offerings-- although Agora's offerings have markedly improved in overall desirability lately .
I hate to be that guy because I seriously like Agora Auctions and want to give them the benefit of the doubt since they were in the middle of the transition and restructuring but I e-mailed them over a month ago about consigning coins with no response. I was planning on following up this weekend since things appear to be up and running again. Agora is usually excellent in responding to inquiries which is why I am wondering if I potentially sent my e-mail to an incorrect e-mail address but I took it directly from one of their communications so who knows.
Pictures of the coins I wanted to consign. TIF is correct. If they are "rough" CNG takes a pass. Go with Agora.
Yes I understan, but I have sent pictures of my Gadara Tets, for example to them, nice no rough coins, bought for quite some money.
Agora took a month off from sales or anything, but they are back now with their own auctions ad well as hosting for others. Try them again.
Another question, is Agora getting good auction results more bids on a coin or for example do many coins have only one bid? so the coins go for a low value so under estimation?
Yep, I know, which is why I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Things happen, and there are many reasons why an e-mail could be left unanswered. I prefer to lay the blame on myself and using an incorrect e-mail address since, as I said, they have been incredibly helpful in the past.
Yes, Ardy works for CNG. CNG sells most of my recycles and their service is great and completely hassle free for me.
My understanding is that CNG has a huge backlog of material for their auctions. Unless it is really nice material it may take some time.
Not sure what happened, my replies disappeared. If someone tried to email us and did not receive a reply please email me. I am fastidious about at least getting back to people. Right now I am in the middle of cataloguing our next sale, so I may not be able to get into a lengthy reply, but I always try to answer emails within a day of receiving them. Transitioning from Tom to me for running the sales was a lot of work, but we are back to 100%. In fact, Matt and I have been working very hard to improve on areas we felt needed improvement. As for consignments, we charge a very low commission and work very hard to list consignments quickly. My partner Matt is a CPA and longtime collector. His job is to ensure that consignors get paid QUICKLY. Best, Alfred alfred@agoraauctions.com
