Can anyone tell me if this is an error, and if so, what type? 20160921_151603_HDR.jpg 20160921_151624_HDR.jpg 20160921_151638_HDR.jpg

$1.00 or less.;) I believe it's called a rim break.

It does look like it could be a rim cud.

I believe that it is a Misaligned Die Strike. You can see a slight false Double Rim on top of the unique Cud that was formed in between the False Double Rim
    Nice find!

Thank you all for your input. I dont mind that it's not worth much. I am new to coin collecting....very new. Maybe a year or so of collecting. I enjoy the art and history behind the coins, and how errors come about. Im 34 and trying to get my children interested in it. I come here so I don't tell them something wrong that may stick in their head. My 2 boys could care less, with the occasional question of how much a coin is worth that they've found. My 4 year old daughter on the other hand, just informed me that she would like coins for her bithday. And not just any coins....gold coins. Lol. Wonder if I can get away with a $25 roll of presidential dollars. Sorry to be so long winded. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has been so nice, and answering questions that may seem ridiculously simple to most.

You have a rim cud that amounts to about 90 arc degrees. In other words, the rim gutter of the obverse die broke off here. Definitely worth keeping.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

Good pics showing the right side, but to me, the left is as interesting, and argues for a misaligned die.
